Comparative Evaluation of Face Sequence Matching for Content-Based Video Access
نویسنده
چکیده
The paper presents comparative evaluation of matching methods of face sequences obtained from actual videos. Face information is quite important in videos, especially in news programs, dramas, and movies. Accurate face sequence matching enables many multimedia applications including content-based face retrieval, automated face annotation, video authoring, etc. However, face sequences in videos are subject to variation in lighting condition, pose, facial expression, etc., which cause difficulty in face matching. In order to cope with this problem, several face sequence matching methods are proposed by extending face still image matching, traditional pattern recognition, and recent pattern recognition techniques. They are expected to be applicable to face sequences extracted from actual videos. The performance of these methods are evaluated as the accuracy of face sequence annotation using the methods. The accuracy is evaluated using considerable amount of actual drama videos. The evaluation results reveal merits and demerits of these methods, and indicate future research direction of face matching for videos.

Video-based face recognition in color space by graph-based discriminant analysis
Video-based face recognition has attracted significant attention in many applications such as media technology, network security, human-machine interfaces, and automatic access control system in the past decade. The usual way for face recognition is based upon the grayscale image produced by combining the three color component images. In this work, we consider grayscale image as well as color s...
متن کاملSähkö- Ja Tietotekniikan Osasto Tietotekniikan Koulutusohjelma Face Sequence Detection for a Web- Based Annotation Application
This thesis presents Person Detection Service, a service that detects frontal faces from video frames and automatically combines them into face sequences, i.e. finds individual persons from the video material. In performance evaluation, special emphasis is given to user-generated videos (UGV). Also, two interfaces are introduced and discussed. The first, Content Annotation Web User Interface, o...
متن کاملFace Detection and Tracking in Video Using Dynamic Programming
Face detection and tracking are important in video content analysis since the most important objects in most video are human beings. This paper proposes a new approach for combined face detection and tracking in video. The face detection algorithm is a fast template matching procedure using iterative dynamic programming (DP)[l]. Although the face detection algorithm is designed for frontal face...
متن کامل3D Face Modeling From Monocular Video Sequences
In this chapter we present two algorithms for 3D face modeling from a monocular video sequence. The first method is based on Structure from Motion (SfM), while the second one relies on contour adaptation over time. The SfM based method incorporates statistical measures of quality of the 3D estimate into the reconstruction algorithm. The initial multi-frame SfM estimate is smoothed using a gener...
متن کاملA Novel Face Segmentation Algorithm from a Video Sequence for Real-Time Face Recognition
The first step in an automatic face recognition system is to localize the face region in a cluttered background and carefully segment the face from each frame of a video sequence. In this paper, we propose a fast and efficient algorithm for segmenting a face suitable for recognition from a video sequence. The cluttered background is first subtracted from each frame, in the foreground regions, a...
